An admittedly weakened Manchester City side were squarely beaten by a Wigan Athletic side who rarely hit their top form.

Despite the Wigan dominance, it took a piece of comedy goalkeeping by David James to give Wigan the corner that Bullard and McCulloch linked to to score with. How David James can be above Mike Pollitt in the England pecking order I don’t know.

City only had one shot on target, and that was in injury time at the end of the match.
