What The Bosses Said – Norwich 2-1 Latics

For a squad the size of the Latics carrying as many injuries as they have in recent weeks is bound to take it’s toll, a poor first half display saw us go in after 45 minutes a goal down, we had Al Habsi to thank, he pulled off a couple of great saves to ensure the game wasn’t over before the 2nd half began.

The rear guard looked both tired and beleaguered and this puts a strain on the rest of the team, whatever curse has been placed on Latics defenders this season needs to be lifted as soon as possible, this was a game too far and we desperately need both Ramis and Caldwell back

Anyway that’s my little rant over, after the game both Roberto Martinez and Chris Hughton spoke to the press to give their views, let`s take a look at what they had to say:

Latics boss Roberto Martinez – ‘We are disappointed with the first-half performance, didn’t get to grips with the game and gave a really soft goal away early on.

‘It wasn’t anywhere near good enough. After the break we showed real intent, started to be ourselves and scored an outstanding goal from open play.

‘At that point we had the momentum and if anything looked as though we could get a winner but the disappointment once again was the conceding of another soft goal, giving the smallest player on the field a free header inside the box. Conceding goals like that make it very difficult to get anything from games and we need to improve upon it.’

Norwich City boss Chris Hughton – ‘It is not being negative, but for a club like ourselves, it is about keeping as big a gap as you can between us [and those at the bottom].

‘There is no shame in saying that, it is a reality for clubs like ourselves.

‘But our form at the moment has deserved it.

‘We are a team which has to work very hard for the points we get, so there will be no getting carried away.’
