The winner of this summers Vital Latics World Cup Prediction comp, Terry Atherton, aka vancouverlatic, finally received his prize for finishing top of the pile last week, when he dropped into the studio prior to the recording of the latest podcast, nearly 3 months late!

I was tempted to post his prize, a Latics scarf, a Latics hat and a commemorative scarf from our first ever Europa League game against Zulte Waregem, but realising the state of both the British and Canadian postal services, Terry suggested that it might be quicker if he came over and got them himself.

The former Wallgate resident, now a fully fledged Canadian after spending more than 50 years there, made his annual pilgrimage to the DW Stadium to take in a couple of Latics games and although the results didn’t go the way he wanted or expected, defeat to Ipswich, draw with Forest, Terry was more than happy to see his Latics play live and sample the atmosphere of two night games.

‘Always happy to see the lads play whatever the result, would have preferred two wins but there you go’ was Terry’s philosophical take on proceedings, he also commented that he was ‘really pleased to get the prizes, especially the Europa League scarf’, a nice piece of history.
