Wigan Reserves lost 2-0 to Liverpool this week. WIGAN: Saunders, Wright, McMillan, Thome, Jackson, Skoko, Teale, Johansson, Litchfield (Smith 76), Connolly, Mahon (Waterhouse 62)

Wigan have said they will not appeal against Lee McCulloch’s sending off during the 1-0 win over Newcastle. I’ll repeat that, 1-0 win over Newcastle. Ahhh, sounds good!

Henri Camara has apologised to Paul Jewell for the way he behaved after being substituted against Newcastle. The Senegal striker says he understands why he was substituted and agrees with Jewell’s decision! He came off on 76 minutes and walked straight down the tunnel in disgust. Jewell said his actions were ‘disrespectful’ and it seems Camara agrees.

Stephane Henchoz is hoping his form for Wigan may force him into contention for the Swiss squad should they qualify for the World Cup saying in The Sun: ‘It’s probably a long shot now, but I’ve not given up hope of going to Germany. I know I could still do an excellent job for Switzerland, but I don’t know what the coach is thinking.’

Wigan have been linked with Huddersfield’s Polish striker Pawel Abbott in a rumoured £1million move in the January transfer window. The striker has scored 11 goals in League One this season.

Three other names have been linked to Wigan this week. Boro’s Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Birmingham City’s Mario Melchiot and Huddersfield’s Pawel Abbott. Wigan have surprised many with their early season form but Jewell is determined to bring in more players to help cement our place in the Premiership.

Thought for the day: ‘Blessed are those who hunger and thirst, for they are sticking to their diets.’
