Henri Camara has apologised to Paul Jewell for the way he behaved after being substituted against Newcastle. The Senegal striker says he understands why he was substituted and agrees with Jewell’s decision! He came off on 76 minutes and walked straight down the tunnel in disgust. Jewell said his actions were ‘disrespectful’ and it seems Camara agrees.

Camara explained: ‘It was born out of frustration because it is not normally in my character to show petulance and this is the first time I reacted like that to being substituted. I live to score goals and when I don’t I get frustrated. But the manager was right to take me off. I was tired after a bad week personally. I was upset about Senegal not qualifying for the World Cup and had done a lot of travelling.’

He also said: ‘I have the utmost respect for the manager, he is a great coach and I want to fit into what’s happening at Wigan. I’ve put this behind me and am just concentrating on scoring goals for Wigan.’

Jewell told the official site ‘Henri came to apologise to me and as far as I’m concerned the matter is closed.’
