This weekends clash between Wigan Athletic and Southampton at St. Mary’s will be refereed by Wythenshawe official Anthony Taylor
Is Taylor the worst ever top flight referee? Purely subjective of course, but in my humble opinion he is the most incompetent referee of any level that I have seen live
His decisions are baffling both for and against whichever team you may be supporting, in our home game against Fulham a couple of seasons back, Latics defender Maynor Figueroa was bringing the ball out of defence when he was challenged by Fulham striker Clint Dempsey, who led the challenge with his fore-arm across Figgy’s face, flooring our Honduras superstar, Taylor blew for a free kick, allowed treatment to the injured Figueroa then promptly booked him and indicated the foul in favour of Fulham!
This will be Taylor’s first Premier League game this campaign, last Saturday he was in charge of the League One south coast derby between Portsmouth and Bournemouth booking one player from each side
Taylor had just the one Latics game last season, our 1-1 home draw with Everton back in February
