Latics are in the race to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Jorge Grant, according to the Nottingham Post.

Scouts from Wigan are understood to have already been to watch Grant on several occasions while on loan at Notts County last season.

The 22-year-old from Oxfordshire joined County in January until the end of the season and made 17 appearances, scoring six times for the League Two side.

Jorge netted the winner for Notts away at Plymouth Argyle in February, as well as scoring in his team`s 2-1 final day defeat to Newport County. He has also played six times for Forest in the Championship this season.

Bristol City are also rumoured to be interested in the playmaker who is set to be released by his parent club this summer.

David Perkins` contract is set to expire this summer and there has been no word yet on the future of loanees Ryan Tunnicliffe and James Weir.
