With just five days to go in the current transfer window and a wad of cash burning a hole in Roberto Martinez’s pocket, the Wigan Athletic manager has had his chief scout Kevin Reeves on the road these past few day’s

Latics are being linked heavily with making a bid for Lee Chung-yong, the South Korea international has been with near neighbours Bolton for the past three years, but their valuation of £7 million seems a little high for a player that has missed the past year with a serious leg break

Reeves flew out to Holland to take in the Eredivisie game between FC Groningen and PSV Eindhoven at the weekend, potential target, Dries Mertens? Well he played and scored and would make a fantastic replacement for Moses, the Belgium international is a quality player and for a wide man can score, 22 goals in 36 games is some going

Reeves was then off to Germany for the Hannover Schalke game, clocking up the air miles in search of new recruits

The sales of both Sammon and Moses have dramatically boosted the transfer kitty at the Latics, expect at least two signings before Friday’s deadline and as always, here at Vital Latics we’ll keep you up to date with all the gossip, rumours, outgoings and signings
