Vital Latics Gold-en girl, Holly Bleasdale competes in the Olympic pole vault final tonight at 7pm, coverage on BBC1

The latest news on Holly after speaking with her better half is that `she is relaxed, focused and confident of doing well`

She is reading her twitter messages @HollyBleasdale, so if you want to pass on your support and words of encouragement please do so

Also, I thought it would be a good time to revamp the video interview I did with her last September:

Going for gold

Just before the athletes left for teh Portugal training camp I managed to grab a few words with her.

Let’s see what she had to say as Holly spoke exclusively with me:

worbo Fantastic result at Birmingham last weekend Holly, breaking your own British outdoor record with a vault of 4.71 metres at this stage must have been very pleasing and given you a great boost with the Games just a month away

Holly Yes it went well! I went there to finish top 2 so I secured my place on the Olympic team but to jump a new British record was a nice bonus. I have been working hard in training so it’s always pleasing when it pays off in a competition.

worbo Would you agree that you are coming into form at just the right time, to improve your outdoor personal best by 30 cm is quite an achievement.

Holly I think so yes. It was always the plan to only really get going at the trials. I now have 3 more competitions leading up to the Olympics and I’m looking forward to the next on which is next Wednesday in France.

worbo Of course your indoor PB is a whopping 4.87 metres, do you feel you can get near to that at the London games, or is it just too different performing outdoor?

Holly I don’t really feel there is a difference between indoors and outdoors, I think it’s more a case of I’m aiming to peak for August and come then I expect to be jumping just as high if not higher than I was doing indoor. The key for me is consistency not one off height, I know I can jump 4.70+ every time I compete once I’m at my peak.

worbo You say you have you got other meetings lined before the Olympics, where are they?

Holly I’m competing next Wednesday in Remes in France then the following Wednesday again in France at a place called Sotterville. My last competition before the Olympics will be the Monaco Diamond league at the end of July.

worbo Here at Vital Wigan we’ve always been behind you Holly, we’ve had the faith and belief that you will go on to success at the Olympics, would you say that it’s now within your reach to break Yelena Isinbayeva’s world record of 5.06m?

Holly I certainly believe big heights are in me. I just want to jump high enough to finish at the right end of the field at the Olympics. The world record is something I have plenty of time to chase but the Olympics is only every 4 years so its something I really want to do my best in.

Five quick fire questions:

Favourite meal – pine nut pasta!

Favourite tune on ipod – David Guetta – Titanium

Top TV show this summer – London 2012 on the BBC!!!!

Ice cream or cream cake – if I had to pick one it would be cream cake but I’d rather cheese cake!! ha

Walking or reading – walking

worbo I prefer cheese cake too…have you got any hot tips in the GB team that you feel are going to really make a name for themselves at the Games, who should we be looking out for? Apart from yourself of course

Holly There’s a 19 year old hurdler called Andrew Pozzi who is really talented and a discus thrower called Lawrence Okoye. They’re both nice people so I hope they do well.

worbo It’s been fantastic talking once again Holly, all the hard work and dedication is certainly paying off, Vital Wigan and I’m sure all Latics fans will be rooting for you, do us proud girl!
