Wigan Athletic are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Chey Dunkley in the three one victory over Blackpool at the weekend at Bloomfield Road was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Dunkley was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Earning himself the EFL Star of the Day accolade was Wigan Athletic`s Dunkley. after the defender recovered from an early mistake to fire his side to victory at Blackpool. Their opponents hadn`t been beaten on home turf prior to Saturday, but the defender struck his first two Latics goals in the win, and managed to get his hands on the match ball after a ‘fake hat-trick!”

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Dunkley for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.
