Wigan Athletic manager Paul Cook confirmed today that star striker Will Grigg will be out for approximately two to three weeks.

The Northern Ireland international suffered an injury after coming on as a substitute in Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw at Gillingham, and subsequently had to be replaced by Noel Hunt.

“Whilst we’re disappointed, it’s probably a lot better news than what we thought,” Cook told WiganAthletic.com.

“By the time we have a free week in relation to league games, he’ll then be looking to come back into contention for the Rochdale game or even the one after.

“It’s not as bad as first thought although it’s a bit of a blow.”

Newcastle United loanee Ivan Toney is the obvious option to replace Grigg for tomorrow’s trip to Blackpool.
