Wigan Athletic manager Paul Cook has seen three of his players called up for international duty for the second time this season.

Central midfielder and club captain Sam Morsy travels to Egypt for their 2018 World Cup qualifier at home to Congo.

Meanwhile, goalkeepers Owen Evans and Matija Sarkic, who is yet to play a minute since his Deadline Day loan move from Aston Villa, have been selected by Wales Under 21s and Montenegro Under 21s respectively.

With shot-stopper Christian Walton possibly out until Christmas with a serious leg injury, these call-ups could potentially leave Cook with just one senior ‘keeper, Jamie Jones, at his disposal for the game at Scunthorpe United on Saturday 7th October.

Despite such concerns, it looks as if the away trip to Glanford Park will go ahead as planned. Tickets are now on general sale to Latics fans and it is believed Evans will return to Wigan in plenty of time to travel with the first team.

Latics postponed the home game against Northampton Town earlier on in the campaign because of international selections, but managed to win the rescheduled match 1-0 thanks to a wonder strike from ex-Cobbler Michael Jacobs.
