Wigan v Man Utd

Wigan welcome Man Utd to the DW Stadium after their shock defeat to Burnley but in the end, it was a fully deserved result for Burnley against a rugged looking Man Utd. However, somebody is going to pay and I think the Latics could suffer a torrid time against the vengeful Red Devils.

That said, the Latics will be looking to get a result against Man Utd after their disappointing result against the Wolves. Mick McCarthy set out his team to frustrate the Latics and after an early strike from Andy Keogh, the Latics simply didn’t have an answer despite their best efforts.

Nemanja Vidic returns with Gary Neville for this clash which, in truth, the Red Devils need to win to get their title ambitions back on track and I think that the motivation alone will be enough but at the same time, may find it difficult against the Latics.

Charles N’Zogbia is a doubt for the Latics tomorrow so Scott Sinclair will see a chance to shine perhaps in his place. Apart from that, there are no serious injury worries for the Latics.

This is a game which Latics will want to put things right after a disappointing midweek result but the stakes are higher for United than the Latics and Latics can look to get their season back on track after this game is out of the way and its best to get these games out of the way as when other teams play them, it will give the Latics a chance to recoup possible points and gradually move up the table.

ROB’S PREDICTION

Wigan 1 Man Utd 2

I’m going for the same scoreline as last season. The Man Utd squad is weaker but it isn’t without desire or ambition and Alex Ferguson is one of the best managers going who has inherited a top quality squad. Roberto Martinez is gradually building a great squad at the Latics and I think that gelling together will take time but United want revenge and I think the Latics may be caught out but I expect a good game and a tough one for United but they I think on this occasion will make it another day where Latics still wait for their first point or three against United.

ROB’S FINAL THOUGHT:

Wigan have never taken a point against United and I don’t see that changing tomorrow. I think it will happen but it may be a patient waiting game and it will be a memorable affair when it does happen. Also, will the Latics beat a top four side this season? Its been a long wait and who knows? Perhaps we will and if we don’t, it will happen sooner or later and I look forward to it as it will be a special occasion.

Will Man U win the title? I think not. They’ve lost their engine in Ronaldo and their spark in Tevez. Rooney is quality though but Owen’s a gamble and Valencia, as good as he is, is no Ronaldo. I think the Italian Stallion will take Chelsea to the title this season with Liverpool and Arsenal falling short of the mark. They lack the qualities to win the title at present, but they’re still quality sides.

See you next time for Rob’s Prediction. I’ve got my fingers crossed for a positive result against United – but I’ll make a point of missing Soccer Saturday as at the end, I think my nerves will be shredded.

Good Luck to the Latics tomorrow and UP THE LATICS!
