Wigan and Derby are locked at 0-0 all during the halftime break at the JJB

Wigan has dominated all aspects of the game however have yet been able to convert all the possession and chances into goals

New recruit Edman has been solid down the left; he has speed and uses his size very well

Most influential players for Wigan have been Kilbane down the left and the Melchiot / Valencia combination

King has hardly seen any of the ball and Heskey has missed some chances in which an inform striker would have taken, none more than a point blank miss right on halftime

There have been 2 contentious moments in the game

1st was in the 24th minute off a corner taken by Kilbane. The cross was headed on the edge of the box by Palcious onto King who pushes the ball through to Melchiot, with his back facing the goal and Carroll charging at him, Melchiot remained controlled and back healed the ball which replays clearly show went over the line. The assistant missed this and played continued.

2nd was in the 39th minute when a through ball by Brown to King was pulled back as the same assistant who made he mistake in the 24th minute called King offside, replays showed this wasn’t the case and King would of been 1 on 1 with the keeper Carroll and with allot of room to move had play continued.
