Scottish Premier League club Hearts have asked FIFA, football`s ruling body, to order the Latics to pay them a transfer fee of £4.5 million for centre back Andy Webster

Webster famously walked out on Hearts in the summer of 2006 with a year left on his contract citing some part of employment law that allows players to leave in the last year of their contracts, very complicated.

Webster was fined £625,000 by FIFA for his actions, suggesting that he did something wrong, but Hearts are not happy with this and want a ‘transfer` fee for a player who is still registered with them until the dispute is finally resolved.

Webster is currently on loan at Rangers and doesn`t look likely to feature for the Latics again, this could be one all mighty sting to the Wigan transfer kitty and Dave Whelans transfer war chest may stay shut next summer
