Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce was keeping his fingers crossed that the eight Latics players who were away on international duty during the week all return home fit and well ahead of the Chelsea game tomorrow.

Antonio Valencia was excused from Ecuador`s game in New York against Columbia and Lee Cattermole withdrew from the England Under 21 squad with a slight knock otherwise there would have been 10 players away.

Cause for concern must be Emile Heskey who came on for the second half in Englands friendly against the Czech Republic at Wembley on Wednesday and appeared to limp from the 50th minute onwards.

Heskey received a kick to the back of his calf and struggled through the rest of the game and was limping badly by the time the final whistle sounded.

Lets hope they all have a clean bill of health but if any of them did have knocks fingers crossed that they are recovered in time for tomorrows first home game of the season.
