Having had a bid of ?3.5 million rejected by Mallorca for central defender Ivan Ramis, Wigan Athletic are set to test the resolve of the La Liga club by returning with an increased bid in the next few days

There is a release clause in Ramis` contract of ?6 million and this appears to be the sticking point, 60% of any fee will be diverted to tax and the player himself, obviously Mallorca don`t want to budge leaving themselves short on their valuation of the player, but reports in Spain suggest that the Latics are in dialogue over the fee, with one option being that Ramis could waive his cut, around 15%, leaving the eventual fee a little over ?5 million

This could be an option with the player and the two clubs wanting the deal to go ahead, more should be known after the weekend
