Wigan Athletic are the League One Champions in all but name.

Following the Latics four nil away win at Blackpool this lunch time and with Burton drawing 1-1 with Gillingham deep into stoppage time it looked likely that we would be crowned Champions of League One this afternoon.

Unfortunately a 92nd minute winner for Burton has but the corks back into the Champagne bottles for one more week, though with 3 points and a 20 goal swing to make up with just one game remaining the trophy is ours realistically, it would have been nice to have had made official though.

A sensational season, which got off to a slow start, has seen the Latics grow stronger with every game played, every credit has to go to manager Gary Caldwell, who is in his first managerial role, he has moulded the team to play his way, he has brought in his players and he deserves all the plaudits that he will undoubtedly receive.

The club has been completely reformed and turned its self around following the shambles of last season and we are bouncing back full of pride with a young squad of exciting players, a young manager with loads of potential and a young and vibrant chairman with great enthusiasm, the future looks brilliant.

Up the tics! Champions elect!
