Wigan Athletic Youth are out of this seasons FA Youth Cup after losing 1-0 to Spurs Youth last night (Wednesday) in a tight game at the DW Stadium.
The Latics youngsters came up against one of the tournaments favourites in Spurs and the North London side proved too strong, just, and they secured the win with an 8th minute goal by skipper Harry Kane.
Spurs had the better of the first half and the Latics came into the game stronger in the second half though late on Latics were reduced to nine men when David Mayer and Roman Golobart had to leave the field with injuries after the three subs had been used.
Mayer had severe cramp whilst Golobart appears to have picked up a nasty knee injury and a club source say they are anxiously awaiting scan results.
Latics: Nicholls, Chiocchi, Mayer, Langley, Golobart, Buxton, Crane, Breeze (Serrano), Jukes, Morris (Rugg), Boothman (Amos).
Subs not used: Williams, Myler.
Tottenham Hotspur: Butler, Waller-Lassen, Carroll, Nicholson, Byrne, Caulker, Fredericks, Parrett, Kane, Bostock, M’Poku (Oyenuga).
Subs not used: Miles, McBride, Lancaster, Francis-Angol.
