Wigan Athletic left back Erik Edman has resumed training following his lengthy absence due to rupturing his cruciate ligament against Blackburn back in February

The classy Swede only joined in January from French side Rennes and received his injury in his fifth game for the Latics which not only ruled him out for the rest of the season but also out of this years Euro Championships.

Edman has started back training and he`s targeted October as a possible date for a return to action.

He said today following training:

‘It’s nice to be back and out running’

‘I’ve started to do some outside work and some running as well as some small exercises with the ball and I hope to be able to join in with the boys – hopefully in around eight weeks.”

‘I am looking forward to seeing the boys play Chelsea this weekend.”

‘But of course everyone prefers to be out on the pitch and that is no different for me.’

Nice one Erik and welcome back
