Wigan Athletic forgotten man Daniel de Ridder was on the verge of resurrecting his career away from the Latics at Israeli club Hapoel Tel Aviv but it appears that the deal has stalled.

It looks like Latics boss Roberto Martinez wants shut of de Ridder permanently but Hapoel don`t want to get lumbered with the Holland under-21 international if he cant cut it with them and they want a loan deal just in case.

Speaking to the press Hapoel chairman Amir Lublin says that though the deal isn`t completely dead it is the Latics rather than de Ridder where the problem lies, Lublin said: “We are negotiating with Wigan and there is still a chance De Ridder will come to Hapoel. But the talks are difficult.

“The problem is not the player but the club. We want a loan deal. The player is not playing and we would help them by saving them having to pay his salary.”
