Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez is delighted with the strength of his squad and following the 1-1 draw with Sunderland the Latics boss spoke about the options that he now has available to him.

Franco Di Santo and Tom Cleverley were added to the squad for the Sunderland game and with Victor Moses, Gary Caldwell and James McArthur soon to be pushing for inclusion when they overcome their injuries the future does look bright

Another plus point is that the average age of the squad is very low with young exciting talent throughout, speaking to the clubs official web site Martinez says that the team is destined to give the fans a lot of happy times this season.

Latics boss Roberto Martinez said: ‘If you look at the options on the bench, it is a real healthy situation for us to be in.

‘If you even look at the players who weren’t on the bench, it shows you how strong our squad is at the moment.

‘It is very young and very enthusiastic, and we just need a little bit of time to gel. But sometimes in football you have to go through the difficulties to find the solutions.

‘We have plenty to work with, and it sends a real message out. We have a team that is going to give us a lot of happy times this season.’
