It looks as though the Latics are pursuing Crawley defender Josh Yorwerth. The Daily Mail report that both us and Pompey are keeping tabs on the player.

The 22-year-old has been a consistent performer under Harry Kewell this season, and the centre back has been an important figure as the League Two club have reeled off 11 wins from their last 16 games, moving them up to ninth in the table.

With his current team, he has been part of a defence that has conceded 41 times in 34 matches which is an average record, but four of those goals came in the 4-1 defeat to Luton a couple of weeks ago when he wasn`t involved.

The centre half looks a very promising young prospect indeed. A Wales Under 21 international who also has current Championship clubs monitoring his progress.

Considering we have every chance of being in the same division as our rivals for Josh`s signature, it looks like we could have a great chance of landing the player in the summer. He did sign a new deal only in September, but I don`t think he would turn down a move that could potentially see him play at a much higher level.
