Wigan Athletic are heavily linked with a move for Crystal Palace young star Victor Moses, with the two clubs being in different divisions and also different parts of the country Latics fans may not know too much about Roberto Martinez` latest transfer target, so Vital Wigan have done a little research and uncovered an amazing story, read on.

Victor Moses was born in Kaduna, Nigeria on the 12th December 1990 and he moved to the UK when he was 11 following the murder of both his parents and he was placed with foster parents whilst awaiting asylum.

Victor attended Whitgift school, Croydon and helped them, no he won them the English Schools cup by scoring all 5 goals in the 5-0 roasting of Grimsby Schools who played the game in red shirts, the Grimsby Evening Telegraph headline read – ` ‘Holy Moses – Wonder Player Parts Red Sea`

Moses was regarded, obviously, has a real talent and was quickly signed up by Crystal Palace, but the level headed youngster was under no illusions that he had to work hard to become a professional footballer, he is quoted as saying when just 14: ‘I have got to work hard if I am going to be a professional, but at the moment I just want to keep scoring goals and winning games for the team’

‘I really admire Zinedine Zidane and Frank Lampard, they are really skilful and I like the way they shoot from distance.

‘It’s good to score goals but my teammates are fantastic, they really support me, but the opponents just want to tackle me hard!’

Former Arsenal and Chelsea player Colin Pates who looks after the Whitgift team said at the time: ‘He is far from being the finished article, but there is no question he is the most talented striker of his age that I have seen’

Victor made his debut for Palace as a 16 year old and a scouting report by the Guardian newspaper makes for interesting reading:

Weight – 11st 7lb

This report was carried out in May 2008, since then Moses has gone on to play in 40 games for Palace scoring 5 goals, he has also represented England at under 16, under 17 and under 19 levels
