You`ve read what the bosses said following yesterdays game at the JJB between Wigan Athletic and Birmingham, now take a look at what the sports journalists thought of it all.

The Telegraph:

Wigan, mixing energy and commitment with a decent skill level, led the visitors a merry dance. Birmingham were badly let down by their captain Damien Johnson who launched himself into a reckless tackle on Kevin Kilbane and was ordered off. That came eight minutes before the break with Wigan already ahead and well on course for a fourth home win in five attempts.

The Independent:

Marcus Bent had already spurned a couple of openings before Wigan struck in the 15th minute. Antonio Valencia breezed past Martin Taylor on the right edge of the area and squared the ball to Ryan Taylor, who drilled home a low shot from 15 yards. If that was bad enough for the visitors, their plight could have got a lot worse before half-time

The Times

A huge win for Wigan that will do much to guarantee their Premier League safety but, for manager Steve Bruce, there wasn`t likely to be a celebratory drink in the boardroom afterwards. His acrimonious departure from Birmingham in November still rankles and he had no desire to exchange pleasantries with his former employers
