Following yesterdays surprisingly entertaining 0-0 between Wigan Athletic and Bolton Wanderers at the JJB both bosses, Steve Bruce and Gary Megson, spoke to the press, lets see what they had to say:

Latics boss Steve Bruce:

‘You have to take your chances and we had three excellent opportunities early on and we should have been out of sight.

‘It has been our Achilles heel all season – we have not scored enough goals.

‘So we have once again had to rely on our defence to keep a clean sheet.’

‘Unfortunately at this level we have made five or six chances – like we did at Blackburn last week – which we did not score and you get punished if you do not take them because you don’t get that many – no matter who you play against.

‘It petered out to nil-nil which I suppose was inevitable.’

‘We want to try and finish in the top ten. The results have gone against us slightly but it’s a wonderful achievement by the lads.

‘With four games to go and to be anywhere near the top ten is terrific.’

On Zaki and Lee Cattermole Bruce said:

‘We haven’t got the squad to just discard anybody. It’s been well-documented that I am very disappointed with what’s happened, but you have to use the situation.

‘Lee has done very, very well for us. He has got leadership qualities and when Mario went down we have given him the armband a few times.

‘It adds a little bit of responsibility which I think he thrives on, but he has been a big part of the season for us.’

Bolton boss Gary Megson

‘I did think that we had the best opportunity and I do think, having seen it again, Taylor was onside and it should count, but it is a difficult job for the linesman to see that in real time.

‘Some of Jaaskelainen’s saves were very good and that is why we wouldn’t swap him for anyone else in the Premiership.

‘We look at the moment like we are limping over the line but if you look around there are some who are not limping.

‘While we are disappointed not to get all three points, it is a good point for us and a clean sheet away from home.’
