The game between Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers at the Ewood Park has got a lot of people talking, the sendings off, the penalty, Edmans injury, Latics inabillity to play against ten men, but the two opinions that cut the most are the managers, Steve Bruce and Mark Hughes, lets see what they have to say:

Latics boss Steve Bruce

‘We couldn’t seem to deal with their midfield three players and for us it was just a poor performance, we had too many individuals and as a team not playing the way we have done for the last few weeks.

‘We didn’t get to grips with Bentley in particular and Santa Cruz up front and it was a tough afternoon for us.’

‘We haven’t done the basics today – we’ve given a poor goal for the first one for me, the second one defensively there’s a flick-on and all of a sudden we’re one-on-one and that shouldn’t happen at this level.’

‘I think it is the accumulation of points like I’ve always said and over the last five years I think 35 points have been enough.

‘I have always set a target of 38 so we’ve got seven games to go to get seven points if we possibly can.

‘If we can do that, that’s usually enough.’

Blackburn boss Mark Hughes

‘I thought we were excellent, a lot of big performances today.

‘It was really important we won and I said beforehand the players had to understand the significance of the game and as a consequence we got a really good performance.’

‘In the circumstances you usually expect a penalty to be given and that was the case.

‘But the punishment did not fit the crime; they scored the penalty, it is 1-1 and you are down to 10 men.’

Well there you have it, a good win for Blackburn and a game to forget for the Latics.
