A very disappointing game at the DW Stadium saw Millwall become the first side this season to record the double over the Latics, a Carlos Edwards goal mid way through the first half giving the Lions the victory that they deserved.

Coming into the match Rösler made seven changes from Saturday, maybe it was too many!

Following the game both bosses spoke to the media, let’s take a look at what they had to say:

Latics boss Uwe Rösler – ‘We didn’t start the game in the way we wanted to and it cost us’

‘When you approach the game in the way we did in the first half then you can only expect to face the consequences, it was very disappointing.

‘There was always a danger for tonight’s game because of the big game we’ve got coming up on Saturday in the FA Cup against Arsenal.

‘The second half was okay, they made it difficult for us but we bombarded them and gave a big push.

‘We had 18 shots but only two on target, we needed to make the goalkeeper work a lot more than he did.

‘I have no complaints about the second half, the players tried hard to turn the game around, but the first half was disappointing. ‘

‘Millwall deserve credit for coming here and getting the victory, they had nothing to lose and they came here hoping that our focus wasn’t 100% and they were right.

‘They picked up a great result at the weekend and had the confidence to come and beat us, they looked dangerous in the first half and in the second half they were very disciplined in defence.’

‘I won’t make any excuses about the fixture list and the amount of games we have played.

‘Millwall came here with pretty much the same team as they had at the weekend and we had seven fresh outfield players in.’

Millwall boss Ian Holloway – ‘I’m delighted’

‘Whether they had half an eye on the FA Cup semi-final I don’t know, but you can’t argue with the way we played.

‘We moved the ball around well in the first half and we scored a great goal.

‘The second half was different – we were up against it and we got a little bit nervous.

‘But we hung in there and the last two games have given me a little bit of hope and pride for the future.’

‘It’s fantastic for us to win back to back games, and I think we deserved them if you watched both games’

‘We had to hang in there because it’s a tremendous squad here at Wigan.

‘We just tried to get in their ribs and get a few tackles in. But I actually thought we played really well once we did win the ball, and just about deserved it.

‘I don’t really care whether we did or we didn’t deserve it, because we need a miracle and I need to persuade my lads that we can do it.

‘It’s a tough ask, but we’re a tough club.’
