A very good game down at the DW Stadium last night, a vast improvement from the Latics on recent performances and, although there were no goals in the game both managers appeared to be quietly satisfied with proceedings.

After the game Uwe Rösler and Forest coach Brian Eastick spoke to the media, let’s take a look at what they had to say:

Latics boss Uwe Rösler – ‘I told the players today that the result came second because for me it was more important about the reaction and about the performance; I think my players delivered that against a very good Nottingham Forest side

‘The draw was a fair result I felt because they had two good chances and we had two great chances as well.

‘First and foremost, what was good for me was that we were on the front foot, we competed better in midfield, won more balls and we were driving forward.’

‘The response I was looking for was there and I thank the supporters because they were there with us from the first to the last minute supporting the team, supporting me’

‘ The relationship between players and supporters is always simple, when they see that we give everything, they’ll be right behind us.

‘We have very loyal supporters but it`s up to us and when we play that sort of tempo and with that sort of desire we’ll be alright in the end.

‘I also thank the chairman for giving me and the players reassurance before the game, it’s fantastic to work in this football club.

‘In these times it’s important the chairman gets involved and I think he’s great, he’s fantastic to work with, we speak a lot and that helped me and the players today.’

‘The introduction of James McClean helped us very much, I was looking for energy, looking for desire, looking for tempo and I think the best moments we had were when we kept the tempo high and when we worked the left-hand side.

‘I’m happy; I want to build on that performance, hopefully we’ll recover quick and on to Wolves, build on that performance and go for it.

‘We have to improve our away record, there’s no question about that and Wolves are a top team but it will suit us, like tonight, going into the game as underdogs because my players thrive on that challenge.’

Forest coach Brian Eastick – ‘I think on reflection the result was about right. Particularly in the first half I thought it was a very close game. Wigan played the ball forward more than we thought they would – Stuart and I came to watch them against Ipswich and they played through the pitch a lot.

‘But possibly because they haven’t had great results lately Uwe Rösler told them to get the ball forward a bit quicker.

‘We created a few chances where we could have nicked it. Michail Antonio at the back post – in the first half and second half – and Jack Hunt got forward and drove a great ball across the box which we very nearly got on the end of.

‘You could possibly say we shaded it on chances in the last 20 minutes or so but overall a point was about right.’
