Latics travelled to the John Smiths Stadium last night and gained their first away point of the season, a goalless draw against Huddersfield may have been a bit of a stalemate, almost a bore draw, but a point is a point, speaking of points there were one or two talking ones last night, the referee had some decisions to make and Uwe Rösler was left less than impressed by the performance of Seb Stockbridge.

After the match both bosses spoke to the media, let’s take a look at what they had to say:

Latics boss Uwe Rösler – ‘Three penalty situations tonight – two of them were clear penalties. We didn’t get what we deserved.

‘The (McManaman) one was clear. Not only that but the second half, two clear handballs – I’ve seen it on a DVD.

‘People try to give Callum a reputation (for diving). He shifted the ball – there was no contact on the ball. There was definitely contact on his leg, so I don’t know how the referee can’t give a penalty for that, and then book him.

‘I think defenders in the final third clearly have a problem trying to handle and obviously they like to go in the ear of the referee. But Callum has to keep doing what he does best, which is taking on defenders.

‘Maybe the way he falls is a little bit too much. He needs to try and stay on his feet more. But when there is contact there is contact.’

‘Unfortunately there is a man in black who has to have a decent day. Last week he decides the game in a different way, but today he wasn’t helpful for us.’

Huddersfield boss Chris Powell – ‘Considering the way it ended on Saturday, we had a few knocks against Middlesbrough. So the 18 I had tonight were the most senior players available really.

‘Obviously pleased with the clean sheet because we haven’t had one. I’m pleased for Alex Smithies, because you need those – it definitely gets you a point.’
