Wigan Athletic travel up to Scotland tomorrow (Sunday) to face Dundee United at Tannadice in the last warm-up game before the big kick-off against Blackpool at the DW Stadium next Saturday and it gives Latics boss Roberto Martinez a last chance to make some tweaks to his side ahead of the new campaign.

During Wednesday nights run out against La Liga side Real Zaragoza the boss used the second half to make quite a few changes and give some of the fringe players such as Jordi Gomez and Roman Golobart, a chance to impress and tomorrow will no doubt see one or two more given a start.

Victor Moses and Hendry Thomas were both conspicuous by their absence on Wednesday but both should make the starting line-up tomorrow.

Martinez sees the Dundee United game as an important work out and he wants his players to face and react to the different challenges that are posed so that his squad can be prepared for the Blackpool game.

Speaking to the clubs official website Martinez said: ‘Another important game’

‘I think the way that Dundee United play will give us a completely different situation that Real Zaragoza.

‘But that’s exactly what we need – different dimensions, different problems on the pitch – and we’re really getting close now to being ready for the start of the season.’
