A great day from start to finish, Saturday 11th February 2012 will go down in my memory banks as one of those special days in my life.
There was an early start dropping the car off at St. Joseph`s school in Horwich at 9 am and then getting down to the DW Stadium in time for the start of walk
The Trinity Ladies Brass Band did us proud playing some really uplifting tunes to get everyone in the mood
Once the walk was underway the camaraderie between the fans was there for all to be seen
The pie stop at Rose Leisure on Cale Lane was enjoyed by all the hungry walkers
It`s estimated that somewhere between 350 – 400 people took part in the walk, it was a tremendous effort from all concerned to walk 7 miles on a day with temperatures below freezing, a fantastic occasion and something for us all to proud of.
The game at the Reebok was also a very special game, to beat your local rivals always gives a great buzz, but when the match carries as much importance as yesterdays did with both teams in the bottom three, then that buzz is magnified several times
The Latics didn`t just beat Bolton though, they out played them, the result for me was never in doubt and to be fair we were much more comfortable than the 2-1 scoreline suggests, but then that`s the Latics, they always like to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Walking back to the car after the game had the feeling of walking home from a cup final having just won, it was a great feeling, home for 6 o`clock, chippy tea, pint of cider and snoring contentedly by 8:30pm, what a fantastic day!
