The Latics were a bit lethargic on Saturday, they didn’t play with a great deal of urgency especially going forward, though they still created a few chances and had a more than decent amount of possession, 62%

As a whole unit though it didn’t quite work, but there were still some good individual performances, Ali Al Habsi had a decent game and he made a cracking save from a Bryan Ruiz free kick, Maynor Figueroa and Ivan Ramis were also ok without being spectacular

Arouna Kone took his goal well and he looked sharp all game, but the man of the match for me was surprisingly the first man to get substituted, Jordi Gomez.

I though Gomez had a very good game, he looked sharp, was wrongly flagged off-side in the first half when he made an intelligent run and fed Kone in for what would have been a tap in, he hit a cracking strike which had Scwharzer beaten all ends up only to crash off the bar and his passing was good for the hour that he was on the pitch

So Jordi Gomez for me, who was your man of the match? To participate in the vote simply access the poll on the right side of this page, select your preferred option, then hit the submit button, it’s that easy
