Wigan Athletic drew 2-2 with Stoke City at the DW Stadium yesterday in what was a very entertaining game, both sides going for the three points made it exciting and the game could have gone either way right up to the final whistle.

Ben Watson got a rare start and his delivery from set pieces was the best we have seen so far this season by a Latics player, he looked a little rusty early on in the game but he grew into his stride as the match wore on, he supported the attacks well and was not afraid to put a challenge in when Stoke had the ball.

Hendry Thomas was strong in his usual defensive midfield role and he even got forward this week to have an excellent chance, but seeing as it was the miss of the season it`s probably better not to dwell on it.

Charles N`Zogbia looked to be really fired up, he was going round berating players following mistakes, he was very direct and desperately unlucky with an effort that Stoke keeper Asmir Begovic managed to tip onto the post.

Ali Al-Habsi was good and one save was magnificent to keep out a Kenwyne Jones header, Steven Caldwell and Maynor Figueroa played quite well and Tom Cleverley was a threat all game and scored for the second week running.

But for me the man of the match was Antolin Alcaraz who was once again superb at the heart of the Latics defence, he defended well, read the game to keep two good forwards in Jones and Fuller relatively quiet, he stood up to the Stoke strong arm tactics and dished out some of his own, he brought the ball out of defence well on a number of occasions and he oozed class all afternoon.

Yep Alcaraz was my man of the match but who was yours. To participate in the vote simply access the poll on the right side of this page, select your option and hit the submit button, it`s that easy
