The second cateogory in the 2009/10 end of season awards is for the young player of the year. Here are a few of the front runners:

James McCarthy…Martinez eased Macca into the first team and this patience has been rewarded by some quite superb performances with James displaying a maturity beyond his years.

Momo Diame…A regular first teamer , Momo has also benefitted from playing alongside Macca and whilst comparisons with Patrick Vieira may be somewhat premature, his development throughout the season has been excellent.

Victor Moses…a deadline day signing of arguably the most exciting talent in the championship. Currently restricted to cameo appearences, his introduction against Burnley proved a masterstroke.

Thomas Kupisz… The young Polish star has been the standout player in this season’s reserve side and can consider himself unlucky not to have featured on the bench for the first team. Out of contract in the summer and rumoured to have rejected a new contract.

Joe Holt…A vastly improved young centre midfielder in the reserve set up and looks likely to be the first home grown youngster to become a first team regular since Leighton Baines
