Vaughan on the verge of signing

Striker James Vaughan will become a Wigan Athletic player within the next 48 hours.

Newcastle recalled on-loan striker Ivan Toney yesterday due to a lack of playing opportunities. That left us with a sole striker in Will Grigg, therefore Paul Cook has acted quickly to fill the void.

Vaughan signed for Sunderland in the summer, but has failed to make an impact at The Wearsiders. He scored 27 goals in a struggling Bury side last season, and is certainly a different option to Grigg in terms of playing style.

The move is expected to be completed today, which would make him eligible to make his debut vs Peterborough tomorrow.
