Unfortunately, a list of summer transfers no longer exists on your local Ceefax service. Actually, come to think of it, the teletext services on my television haven`t been updated since about July 2012…

But fear not, dear reader, for Vital Latics’ own transfer round-up can act as a surrogate teletext page until you fish Ceefax from the crustiest corner of your favourite sofa buttcrease.

And unlike those teletext transfer pages, this one selects only the ones vaguely relevant to Latics supporters! All of the players in this round-up have been employed by Wigan Athletic at some point in their career.

Bonus: now with comments from Nosey Barstool! Ben Watson help us.

Harry Maguire has moved from Hull to Leicester for £17 million (BBC). The brickhouse defender spent three months at Latics in the 2014/15 season, making 16 appearances and scoring one goal. According to the BBC, Maguire claimed ‘a number of clubs were interested’.

Nosey Barstool’s verdict: 17 mil? I’d be retiring tomorrow if I were that lad – I’ve got a ‘luxury’ one-bedroom pad in Westhoughton for sale if he wants it.

Conor McAleny is now a Fleetwood Town player, having been released by Everton (BBC). The Whiston-born striker impressed during his loan spell at Wigan Athletic in the 2015/16 season, scoring four goals.

Nosey Barstool’s verdict: Missed a trick there, lads. We should’ve crowdfunded his wages on that new site, kickoffstarter.com.

Craig Davies has re-signed for Oldham from Scunthorpe United on a 2-year deal (BBC). Somewhat predictably, he failed to score in 21 appearances for the Iron.

Nosey Barstool’s verdict: Why don’t they get Grant Holt while they’re at it? One more strikeforce don’t Latics have to worry about this season.

Haris Vuckic has gone to FC Twente (The Mag). The free agent, perhaps best known to Wigan fans for his goal against Bradford in March 2016, had been on trial at the Dutch club.

Nosey Barstool’s verdict: Some memories are best left as they are – don’t get him back, he’d only ruin them.

And finally, HITC are reporting that Reece Burke’s going to Bolton on a season long loan.

Nosey Barstool’s verdict: Oh, OK. Thank you for letting me know.
