Wigan Athletic reserve striker Tomasz Cywka has left the club and joined Championship side Derby County where the young Pole had spent part of last season on loan.

Latics had offered the 21 year old a contract extension but he chose to move on to pastures new in search of some regular first team football. In his time at Wigan Cywka made just 2 first team appearances in 4 years.

Latics boss Roberto Martinez said that he had hoped Cywka would have stayed but understood his decision to leave, Martinez said: “There was a deal on the table for him her, but Tomasz feels his chances of first team football will be better served at Derby and I respect that decision.

“We wish him all the best in the future, he is a good young professional who has always given his best for Wigan Athletic and has the potential to make a good career from football.’
