Wigan Athletic and England forward Emile Heskey is at the centre of a battle for his signature from Aston Villa and Liverpool according to the News of the World

The report says that Villa are set to offer £3 million for Heskey with Liverpool also matching the offer and it is quite certain that Latics will sell come January.

The big mans contract expires next June and he has refused to discuss any extension giving the club the indication that he will be off come the summer, in that case it is quite understandable that they will want to sell and get some cash to put towards his replacement.

Although publicly Heskey says he is happy at the JJB he would dearly love one more crack with a club chasing honours and it is no secret that if Middlesbrough would have agreed to Mido joining the Latics then Heskey would have been off last week
