Sky have pulled off a major coup securing five of the available six Premier League packages by outbidding the other contending broadcasters and the majority of Premier League live TV games will be shown on Sky for the period 2010-2013.

Sky paid a whopping £1.62 billion for the rights leaving rival Irish media group Setanta with a minor package, the right to show a selected number of games at 5-30 pm on a Saturday evening, for this Setanta have paid £159 million

There is a short video clip (15 seconds) with Vic Wakeling the managing director of Sky Sports talking about the deal, whats interesting about the clip is the TV screen over Vic`s left shoulder featuring none other than our very own Wigan Athletic
