Josip Skoko has said that he does not want to be considered for Australia’s 2010 World Cup qualifiers, as he is aiming to concentrate on his club career with Wigan.

Skoko told Sky Sports ‘After the World Cup I wanted to put more focus on my club football,’ he explained.

‘If I want to make a good go of my career at Wigan, I’ll have to let some things in the national team go.

‘I don’t want to leave immediately but I want to help bring the young players through, and a few have stepped up already.

‘It’s getting to the point where I’ve had enough and I’ll probably look to retire, but that’s ahead of me still.’

So it appears that Skoko is about to accept Latics offer of a new deal at the JJB
