Steve Bruce used the final warm up match in Austria against Bundesliga side Hannover 96. Lewis Montrose was handed a starting role for the second time on tour in the unusual role of right back with Carlo Nash between the posts and Henri Camara was given another chance to strike up a pertnership with Emile Heskey.

Hannover started brightly but Camara came close to opening the scoring, with Latics first attacking move shooting just over the bar.

Carlo Nash had to be quick off his line to block an attack by Hannover and soon after Montrose put a through ball for Heskey to chip the keeper for the first goal.

The lead was short lived however and two minutes later Mike Hanke scoring off the post.

Henri Camara and Olivier Kapo both tested the Hannover keeper who made excellent saves.

In the 83rd minute Paul Scharner restored Latics lead from a set piece.

Latics appeared to be heading for the second victory on the tour but Scharner blotted his copybook conceeding a penalty, which was converted by former Birmingham striker Mikael Forsell.

All in all another good workout for the Latics’ team. Reports suggest that Camara once again looked sharp and did his chances of being part of Bruce’s future plans no harm at all.
