Two Wigan Athletic players, Hugo Rodallega and Tom Cleverley, featured prominently yesterday for their national sides and both had a significant role as Colombia and England under21 came out on top in their respective encounters.

Hugo Rodallega played a part in both Colombia goals as they won 2-0 away at Venezuela last night. Rodallega played in a similar position for his national side to what he does with the Latics and he wore the number 11 shirt.

A superb ball from our new season long loan capture Tom Cleverley set up Daniel Sturridge to score the only goal of the game as England under 21`s beat Portugal under 21`s 1-0 in the European Championship qualifier. More of these types of passes please Tom.

There are more Latics players in action today (Saturday) with Steve Gohouri on duty for the Ivory Coast in their game with Rwanda, Maynor Figueroa and Honduras tackle neighbours El Salvador whilst Antolin Alcaraz and his Paraguay team face Japan.
