It seems that soon, the tide may turn from Red to Blue in Manchester, such is the team that Roberto Mancini is constructing. In truth, Manchester United may become something of an underdog if Roberto Mancini continues to spend the money as he does.

In truth, money doesn’t always guarantee success and doesn’t always buy a team but Roberto Mancini’s high fliers have yet to lose. They’ve made a good start, too. They humiliated Tottenham 5-1 at White Hart Lane, beat Swansea 4-0 and also beat Bolton 3-2. It seems they are an indestructible force at present.

Roberto Martinez though took his team to the Etihad Stadium, or Eastlands as it was known then and he finished the game with a commendable performance and had it not been for the sad goalkeeping error Ali Al-Habsi made, we would’ve got a commendable draw. Still, it was a terrific effort and hopefully we can put an application similar tomorrow when the Latics travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City.

Wigan had a decent record against Manchester City, but in recent times, Wigan haven’t beaten Manchester City in three attempts. Roberto Mancini’s men won 2-0 at the DW Stadium and won 3-0 and 1-0 respectively at Eastlands, which means Roberto Martinez is searching for his first win over Manchester City with Roberto Mancini at the helm.

Antolin Alcaraz is missing for Wigan which means that Adrian Lopez might retain his place in the heart of the defence. Gary Caldwell should partner with Maynor Figueroa and Ronnie Stam filling in as well in Left Back and Right Back respectively.

In midfield, I think that Albert Crusat and Victor Moses will apply the wing threat and James McCarthy and Mohamed Diame, along with Ben Watson will make up the 5 man midfield. Up front, I suspect that Franco Di Santo will continue after his efforts over QPR. Lets hope Franco can find form against Manchester City this weekend.

In truth, I see a difficult game for Roberto Martinez and his troops though I think it could be quite tight and I don’t see a drubbing on Saturday at all. Games against Manchester City have generally been tight and I think we’ll lose this game but with our heads held respectively high.

I predict a tough game at the Etihad stadium and see us losing this game by two goals to one with a respectable performance put in by the Latics.

Man City 2-1 Wigan

Arsenal V Swansea – I wouldn’t want to be Swansea going into this game. Arsenal are licking some serious wounds and will want to prove a point in this game. I see a high score for Arsenal here.

Everton V Aston Villa – In my opinion, Villa are stronger, Everton are weaker. Losing Arteta is a major blow to them and I see Villa sneaking a victory against Moyes’ men to further add to their woes.

Stoke V Liverpool – Stoke have beaten Liverpool just once in 26 years though they’ve also got a good record against Liverpool in the EPL. I think this will be a draw.

Sunderland V Chelsea – I’m not sure about Chelsea – sometimes they show spark, other times they show very little to inspire. Things haven’t been the same since the departure of the special one, Jose Mourinho. Against Sunderland though, I think they’ll see this through.

Wolves V Tottenham – Wolves are in a rich vein of form. Tottenham are in woeful form. Spurs want to prove a lot after their sad home drubbing to Man City and Wolves will need to be on their guard.

Bolton V Man Utd – There only seems to be two teams who really light up the Premier League in terms of the title race and they both come from Manchester. Bolton gave Man City a very stern test and I expect no less for Alex Ferguson’s men at the Reebok. They have stumbled at the Reebok before but I think they’ll nick this game by the odd goal.

Norwich V West Brom – What a HUGE game this is. West Brom are pointless at the moment and Norwich need to rack up some more points on the board to stand the chance of survival. Its a tough one to call but they’ve proven admirable against Stoke in their last home game so I predict a home win for Norwich.

Fulham V Blackburn – I see this being a dull encounter to be brutally frank. Blackburn need the points to kick start their season but I think that they’re a shadow of the team they once were in the EPL. I think this game will wind up being a home win for Fulham and woe for Kean.

QPR V Newcastle – QPR suffered a 2-0 away defeat to the Latics on their last game and Joey Barton could be fit to face his former club Newcastle. I can see this one being an absolute belter and I see a high scoring draw.

Wins for Wigan and Huddersfield Town will do nicely this weekend. See you next time when I shall predict Everton V Wigan!

On a side note, I apologise for not doing Rob’s Prediction for the last three weeks as I have been away on holiday.
