Rob’s Prediction: Wigan Vs Blackburn

This game, sadly, could mark the end of Wigan Athletic’s spell in the top flight if they lost today. The Latics have been on a terrible run of form with eight consecutive losses in the league and a loss in the Carling Cup. Whilst little remains wrong with the attack, its the defence which has played its part in a disappointing campaign thus far.

Now is the time to get behind Wigan Athletic football club to try and instil some confidence into the team and all concerned.

Wigan welcome Blackburn Rovers to the DW Stadium and they haven’t kept a clean sheet for such a long time now that Wigan must fancy their chances against a team themselves, low on confidence.

Kean has been a bitter hate target for the vast majority of fans for a long while now and whilst relations are slightly better, a loss today would increase the strain on Steve Kean.

The same can be said of Roberto Martinez as he tries to give his side and the fans some pride back as eight consecutive losses have led to some very frustrating times for all concerned with Wigan Athletic football club and we all deserve a break as do Blackburn, I’m sure.

Blackburn games in the past have thrown up some absolute corkers and Wigan have the edge in games played at the DW Stadium or as it was, the JJB Stadium. I can’t see history repeating itself however.

Despite Alcaraz’s spitting debacle, Wigan have no major issues to contend with and have a near full complement to use against Blackburn Rovers today.

Nerves are going to creep in for both sides today but as Rovers’ defence has been very sloppy, surely this is the chance for Wigan to make a mark and perhaps take all three points?

ROB’S PREDICTION
================

Blackburn Rovers haven’t kept a clean sheet for a long while now. Their defence like ours is very leaky. Its hard to predict the outcome of such a crucial game at the bottom but hopefully, the game will swing in Wigan’s favour. Sadly, I think this game will end in a draw which just might be the signal for what’s to come for the Latics.
Wigan 1 Blackburn Rovers 1

Everton V Wolves – Wolves had a fantastic result last time at home to Wigan and now will fancy their chances against an inconsistent Everton outfit. Wolves have gone to Goodison and caused Everton issues in the last few times they’ve visited and I suspect a draw is on the cards.
Everton 1 Wolves 1

Man City V Newcastle – Man City are a good side and Newcastle have been punching something above their weight. The Toon Army have returned and make no mistake about it but this is a game too far for them as Man City’s attacking prowess will prove far too much for Pardew’s men.
Man City 3 Newcastle 0

Norwich V Arsenal – What have Norwich to fear now? They recently drew at Anfield. I think they’ll do well against Arsenal but not get the three points. Arsenal will triumph in my opinion but just.
Norwich 1 Arsenal 2

Stoke V QPR – Stoke are having a nightmare after European campaigns and I think that Pulis’ men should bounce back against a QPR side who are mediocre on their travels at best. They are inconsistent like Stoke but Stoke should prevail.
Stoke 1 QPR 0

Sunderland V Fulham – Sunderland are staring into the abyss at the moment – they are flirting with danger and a Fulham side coming to the Stadium of Light should prove to be a stern test for them but I can’t see Sunderland winning. I fancy a draw.
Sunderland 1 Fulham 1

Swansea V Man Utd – A tough one to call as Swansea have a fantastic home record with no goals conceded – Man Utd will change that today though in my opinion and they have a defence which is not easily breached by anyone. I think it will end in United’s favour.
Swansea 0 Man Utd 3

West Brom V Bolton – Bolton have had a mini tonic of late. They got a smashing win over Stoke, which is exactly what it was, in fairness. West Brom haven’t really been anything to shout about in recent weeks but I think they’ll get a draw.
West Brom 1 Bolton 1

ROB’S FINAL THOUGHT
===================

Wins for Wigan and Huddersfield should make the perfect weekend.
