Rob’s Prediction: Wigan V Tottenham

Wigan Athletic face Tottenham Hotspur in what is going to be a massive game for both sides in terms of trying to strive for the Champions League and staying in the division.

However Harry Redknapp does have some injury worries to contend with and with the news that Gareth Bale is not fit can only serve to play into Wigan’s hands even more.

That said, Wigan won’t forget in a hurry their notorious nightmare that is Jermain Defoe – he’ll be looking to cause Wigan some pain, but whilst they have Jermain Defoe, we have Hugo Rodallega, who is every bit as skillful and quick as Defoe, so Harry will have to keep a watch on Rodallega!

Hopefully, with Victor Moses and Charles N’ Zogbia patrolling the wings, it will make life difficult for a Spurs side who will want to keep one eye on the Madrid game and not risk injury.

Wigan will be well up for this game and Spurs know they are in for a battle today – unfortunately I cannot see beyond Wigan not conceding as Ali Al Habsi has conceded in several games previously so that’s the concern today.

Nevertheless I can see Wigan getting a point out of this fixture, but it will be very difficult indeed.

Hopefully for the first time, Roberto Martinez can get back to back wins but I just don’t see that today, but I do see a draw.

ROB’S PREDICTION
================

A tough outing for Wigan today against Spurs, but Spurs have other things on their minds and won’t fancy the game against Wigan – they won’t be going at full gear and with influential players out, it could mean a difficult afternoon for Tottenham. A point would be a good day’s work for a Champions League chasing side and they can do it.

Wigan 1 Tottenham 1

ROB’S OTHER PREDICTIONS
=======================

West Ham Vs Man Utd – This is a very intriguing clash and Man Utd cannot lose any more ground in the title race, but I am going to back a surprise result here.
West Ham United 1-1 Manchester United

Birmingham Vs Bolton – Birmingham have gone right off the boil of late and they can’t afford any more slip ups – they will slip up here, I think. I think they’ll take a precious lead and let it slip at the death.
Birmingham 1-1 Bolton

Everton Vs Aston Villa – Everything Gerard Houlier touches… doesn’t turn to gold. He faces a tough trip to Goodison and I think with Everton blowing hot and cold and with Aston Villa desperate, this will be a cagey game and a draw the most likely outcome.
Everton 0-0 Aston Villa

Newcastle Vs Wolves – Newcastle are safe now I think and Wolves need points badly. I do believe this is going to be a very difficult game for the home side and this will result in a draw for both sides.
Newcastle 2-2 Wolves

Stoke City Vs Chelsea – Bruised and battered is the order of the day at the Britannia where Chelsea need to keep in touch with Manchester United in order to keep their slim title hopes alive. I think they will do it – by 1 goal.
Stoke 0-1 Chelsea

West Brom Vs Liverpool – Well, this is the match of the day, without doubt. Hodgson will want to put one over King Kenny, but the Reds are not pushovers anymore and I see Roy losing his unbeaten record so far.
West Brom 1-3 Liverpool

Arsenal Vs Blackburn – I bet Kean’s not too keen on this fixture – his side have fallen apart dramatically and championship football is looming for his side unless he gets a massive reversal in fortunes – but not at the Emirates stadium.
Arsenal 4-0 Blackburn

Fulham Vs Blackpool – If Fulham win they are safe. Its as simple as that. Blackpool can’t stop conceding as well as scoring. I think it’ll be an entertaining draw at Fulham and I’m going to go for a crazy score at Craven Cottage.
Fulham 3-3 Blackpool

Man City Vs Sunderland – Steve Bruce’s side haven’t won since January – not form you’ll want to take into next season. They don’t want to face Manchester City who will be licking their wounds and want to try and get into the Champions League – this is a vital weekend and I see Man City coming out on top. The thing is, they haven’t been convincing at home this season so I expect a narrow win.
Man City 1-0 Sunderland

ROB’S FINAL THOUGHT
===================

A result for Wigan and Huddersfield will make for a most satisfying weekend.

Until next time and the Chelsea game (which I’m going to), take care!
