Wigan Athletic welcome bogey team Nottingham Forest to the DW Stadium today. It is a clash that both sides need points from. For Nottingham Forest and for Wigan, the result would continue their momentum and allow either side to climb the table. 5 points from four games may sound like a disappointing outcome, but we’re still in contention and still adjusting to championship life. Also, I do think we’ve been a little unlucky with our two home game results.

Billy Davies’ side have enjoyed a fantastic start to the season and will want to get the three points to keep them well on the course for promotion this season, but a trip to the DW will not come easy for them as we have scored the second highest amount of goals in the league this season so they will need to be on their guard.

Having said that, Wigan could be and will most likely be without their talisman striker, Grant Holt, today. Therefore, maybe we will see Nouha Dicko come in for the injured Holt and it could be a chance for him to stamp his authority on the first team. After all, we have a fine squad and despite the Europa League demands, I still think we’ll have a reasonable season.

Nottingham Forest have not got the overall amount of points on offer today for a long time and Wigan have not drawn so many games in a row for a while either – for me, this has draw written all over this. Whilst a draw is not a bad thing, it might hinder our chances of actually getting the effective momentum in order to be making a serious challenge, even at this early stage in the season.

ROB’S PREDICTIONS (CHAMPIONSHIP)
================================

Leeds v QPR – A tasty game. However, I see QPR just shading this one. Leeds United 1-2 Queens Park Rangers

Barnsley v Huddersfield – A Yorkshire Derby which ended 2-2 last season to keep both teams up with the most bizarre ending ever. I see a draw. Barnsley 1-1 Huddersfield Town

Birmingham v Ipswich – Birmingham have had a stop-start to the season and Ipswich have done OK. I think Ipswich could nick it. Birmingham 0-1 Ipswich

Blackburn v Bolton – Bolton are still searching for their first league win of the season. I don’t see them getting it here. Blackburn 2-1 Bolton

Blackpool v Watford – Watford will be a different test for Blackpool and although they beat Reading, I don’t see them beating Watford. Blackpool 0-2 Watford

Brighton v Millwall – Just two goals scored and that was at Sheff Wed. A tricky encounter for Millwall. They’ll fight though and Brighton will win, in my opinion, but it won’t be easy. Brighton 2-1 Millwall

Charlton v Leicester – You have to feel for Chris Powell – his start to the season has been shocking. Leicester will find this a walk in the park, in my opinion. Charlton just haven’t got going. Charlton 0-4 Leicester

Derby v Burnley – Burnley have had an encouraging start which I didn’t see at the beginning of the season. Derby have had a mixed fortune to the season, so I’m going for the draw. Derby 1-1 Burnley

Doncaster v Bournemouth – This has home win written all over it as Bournemouth have conceded so many goals on their travels. Doncaster 3-0 Bournemouth

Middlesbrough v Sheff Wed – Middlesbrough will triumph here as Sheff Wed are not getting the ideal results thus far. Middlesbrough 2-0 Sheff Wed

Wigan v Nottingham Forest – Draw for Wigan today which wouldn’t be a bad thing but we need the momentum as do Forest. Wigan 2-2 Nottingham Forest

Yeovil v Reading – Yeovil are the whipping boys of this division, I think. Its such a shame as well. However, Reading will bounce back with a good win. Yeovil 0-3 Reading

See you next time for Rob’s Prediction and hopefully wins today for Wigan and Huddersfield Town.
