Rob’s Prediction: Swansea V Wigan

Roberto Martinez returns to his former club for just the second time as he takes on a Swansea City outfit, that is currently looking for form. They have drawn just one game against Reading in their last few fixtures and suffered some dismal results. Wigan’s form has been little better, but a draw against the high-flying Toffees will have done a lot for confidence.

However, after an international break, it will be interesting to see what the line-up will be for tomorrow and I’m hoping we might get to see a bit of Ryo play a role in the team.

Wigan’s record at Swansea is not one to be overly proud of – they have drawn just two games there in their last two meetings and they’re yet to record a win on this ground. Swansea fans will be eager to get one over on Roberto for being the man who left the club under acrimonious circumstances whilst Wigan will be looking to avenge a 2-0 home defeat from last season.

Michael Lardrup and Swansea have been in the news about a potential bit of unrest in the camp – this could well play into Wigan’s hands and if it is true, this might be shown on the pitch. If they are vulnerable at the moment, it will be certainly a good moment to nip in and snatch a win.

Our away form is not too great in terms of keeping clean sheets so I am expecting a goal at the Liberty from the home side tomorrow – Wigan have kept just two clean sheets in several games.

Both teams are not in form at the moment and interestingly, they have both not had a victory in five attempts so something must give on this ground tomorrow. Second season syndrome shows its catching up with the home side, despite their impressive campaign last season.

The line-up which would be of the most benefit to us tomorrow would be an attacking one with the likes of Al Habsi in goal, Ramis, Caldwell and Figueroa to check the defence, Ryo, MacArthur, McCarthy and Beausejour in the middle and Maloney, Kone and Di Santo up front.

ROB’S PREDICTION
================

With neither team showing very much decent form at the moment, Swansea and Wigan have identified this game, no doubt, as winnable. I think Wigan have the stronger resources at their disposal but we’re conceding an alarming amount of goals as well. Our defence does look more stable and convincing with Alcaraz in there so hopefully, he’ll be back for West Ham as tomorrow’s game looks a bit too soon for him. Swansea are in no great shakes and with their impressive home record against the Latics, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see a home win on Saturday, but with just that little bit extra in my opinion in favour of the away side, I fancy a morale-boosting away win here to plunge Swansea into trouble. Swansea City 1-2 Wigan Athletic
