Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez has wasted no time at all in setting his goals for next season, a challenge for a Europa League spot. With the last campaign finishing on Sunday in dramatic fashion and Premier League survival for the Latics going right down to the wire, Martinez has decided a relegation scrap isn`t a happy place to be.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Martinez says that it is important to get a good start next season and push on to the next level, he said: “You need to have dreams in football, it would be phenomenal to have a European game at the DW Stadium that has to be our aim”

“We want to carry on improving and that is the next target”

“We need to get all the good things together that we have done this campaign and start the new season really strong”

“We have got to get away from this relegation scrap because it is a really tough time and you don`t enjoy your football”
