As the most exciting time of the years comes closer( the transfer window not Christmas)thoughts move towards who might be seen as possible sigings.

With Wigan’s Chairman David Whelan stating that Bruce has to sell before he can buy to bolster his thread bare squad then Wigan may be forced to sign aspiring players rather than players with a proven Premier League track record.

Here are a 7 possibles and 3 wildcards none of whom have been officialy linked with the club;

Joe Ledley …
21 year old Welsh international. An attacking player who can play on the left wing or in centre midfield Has been at Cardiff since a schoolboy and has made over 170 appearences for them. Has also played over 20 times for Wales

Chances…slim Cardiff want £5,000,000 for him and Latics will have to sell a big name to fund it.

Odds….100/1

Felipe Caicedo…

Ecuradorean play of Valencia languishing in Man City’s reserves. Mark Hughes is thought to be ameanable to let him go on loan.

Chances..fair if a loan deal, too expensive to buy at £5,000,000.

Odds….25/1 loan, 100/1 buy

Darius Vassell.

Another Man City forward who Wigan have been linked with in the past but who could drop down the pecking order at City if Hughes spends big in the transfer window. An ex England international who could be available for as little as £2,000,000.

Chances…Good, Man City are being linked with all the top players including Kaka and Wigan could pick up some good bargains from City cast offs.

Odds….10/1

Richard Stearman…

Young centre half, ex Leicester now earning rave reviews at Wolves. Stearman is a veteran of over 100 league games at the age of 21 and made his debut for England under 21’s this year.

Chances…fair, with Wolves seemingly Premeir League bound Stearman may prefer to remain where he is but the money may tempt Wolves to sell.

Odds 50/1 depending on the dosh offered.

Jack Hobbs…

Yound Liverpool defender currently on loan at Leicester but out of contract at the end of the season. Highly thought of at Anfield but the lure of regular football could prove tempting.

Chances…Fair, Premier League or Coca Cola league one. Liverpool may be persuaded to part with Jack as part of a deal for Heskey or Valencia.

Kris Boyd…

Stiker at Glasgow Rangers who has been alledgely unhappy for some time about niot being the first choice forward despite an excellent scoring record.
Boyd (25) is believed to not be averse to switching to the Premier League althoug he would no doubt prefer a top four club.

Chances…fair

Rangers would welcome the cash although it wouldnt go down well with the fans. May have to pay up to £5,000,000 to secure the move and Bruce may decided it is too much for the ‘gers striker.

Odds 100/1

Ariclenes da Silva Ferreira ( Ari)

Brazilian stirker currently playeing for AZ Alkmaar in Holland. Averages a goal every 3-4 games and was the top scorer in the Swedish league in 2006 when he beat Alves now at Boro to the top scorer title.

Chances…Unknown whether he would wwant to come to England. The price tag would be around £4,000,000.

Odds 500/1 you never know if you don’t try

Wildcards

Ronaldo

(no not that one, the other one).
Not played since being released by AC Milan and believed to be looking for one last contract. Has suffered knee problems for some time but wouldn’t cost a transfer fee which might make the gamble worthwhile as he would certainly put bums on seats at the JJB.

Chances…fair

Might be his only option to resurrect his career and his only chance to play in the Premier League. Wages may be a stumnbling block!!!!

Odds 500/1

Joe Garner…

20 year old striker signed from Carlisle by Forest in the summer. A big future is predicted for the lad who is a predatory goalscorer. Would fit in the price bracket as £2,000,000 would secure the deal

Chances…slim

Just coming back from injury, his lack of experience at present may make it too soon for both parties.

Odds 1000/1

Henrik Larsson…

Why not, a free agent when his contract with Helsingborgs expires. Could do wonders for Latics as a short term signing.

Chances…sadly slim, at 37 he would want to join a club where he could win something which sadly isn’t going to be Wigan this season.

Odds….500/1

Bruce is likely to go for experience most likely from abroad but would be worth buying as a future star.

With the transfer window the last chance to bring players in this season, who we bring in could ultimately secure Premier League football for a fifth season as Palacios’ signinG did ;ast season, it promises to be an exciting month.
